We are well regarded and aim to provide a friendly, fair and expert service. Much of our work is either for existing clients or by recommendation from existing clients. We have 4 principal departments: Property, Private Client, Family and Litigation.

We are well-placed to serve clients from Macclesfield, Leek, Bakewell, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Whaley Bridge, New Mills, Glossop and the High Peak. Particularly given the advance of technology we continue to act for clients or their families who have moved away and we have clients throughout the UK and abroad.

History

Brooke-Taylors Solicitors, a long-established local firm with roots dating back as the early 1900s, has served countless clients over its extensive history. In April 2024, the firm entered a new chapter, being acquired by Derbyshire Legal Services Limited, operating under the established trading name Lovedays Solicitors of Matlock, Bakewell, and Wirksworth.

This acquisition has brought Brooke-Taylors into a phase of modernisation, embracing contemporary technology and experiencing a revitalised approach to legal services.

Alison Kirkham

Licenced Conveyancer

Alison joined Brooke-Taylors in 1997, qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2006 and then worked at a local firm until she rejoined the team in March 2022. Alison is Head of Residential Property team and has an excellent working relationship with local estate agents as well as a following of longstanding local clients.

Alison has expertise in residential and commercial transactions, unregistered land, agricultural land transactions, complex lease transactions and acting for management companies.

Claire Broadhurst

Solicitor

Claire specialised in family law for 15 years both with regard to married and cohabiting couples, but now specialises in property law, in particular residential sales, purchases and new builds. She also advises on remortgages, transfers of equity and auction transactions dealing with both registered and unregistered land transactions.

Claire completed Combined Studies BA (Hons) and then studied law at the College of Law in Chester.

Outside of work Claire enjoys horse riding, socialising with her friends and cooking.

Pam Morton

Licenced Conveyancer

Pamela is a qualified Licensed Conveyancer regulated by the CLC. Pamela began her legal career in 2015 joining Brooke Taylors Property Department in 2017. Pamela possesses a wide range of knowledge in all aspects of property law to include sale and purchase of leasehold, freehold and unregistered properties, remortgages, and transfer of equity. Pamela has an excellent relationship with clients and estate agents and prides herself on her communication skills, hard work and understanding to help a conveyancing transaction run smoothly.

Pamela enjoys spending time with her family, gardening and reading books.

Ed Martin

Trainee Solicitor

Ed is a trainee solicitor, joining the firm in 2023. After running a local online retail footwear business Ed decided to embark on a career change into law, converting his business degree to a Masters in Law and completing his LPC.

He brings a wealth of business experience. After qualifying, he wants to specialise in Private Client Work (wills, probate and powers of attorney).

Ed was born and lives in Buxton with his wife and four children. Ed is a keen Derby County fan and enjoys the outdoors of the Peak District.

Zarkra is a Private Client Practitioner in our Buxton Office with 5 years of experience working on wills, probate and powers of attorney matters in various firms in South Yorkshire.

Ellen Henderson

Trainee Solicitor

Ellen completed her legal studies in 2021 and joined the firm in 2023 as a trainee solicitor. She is due to qualify as a solicitor in June 2025. Ellen’s legal interests lie in the practice area of litigation where she will continue to grow her career. Outside of work Ellen enjoys walking her two dogs and spending time in the garden.

Victoria Walsh

Solicitor

Vicki qualified as a solicitor in 2009 initially working for the Crown Prosecution Service in Manchester. She now specialises in family law and is based at our Buxton office.

Outside of work she can be found helping to run a local toddler group in Buxton or running around after her five children.
